Into Thin Air

A Celebration of Disappearing Craft

Events — Airbnb Design Editorial

We’re kicking off 2019 with our new “Into Thin Air” dinner series. Each gathering celebrates the individuals behind craft-based industries that are fading with the advancement of automation and globalization. We’re looking forward to piloting this series in Seattle, a city that has experienced major changes in the last decade, but still maintains its identity as a destination for exemplary craft.

To coincide with Interaction 19, our Seattle Design team will be hosting the first event featuring award-winning photographer and National Geographic contributor Kiliii Yuyan. Kiliii is both Nanai and Chinese-American, and his work chronicles indigenous culture and conservation issues. He’ll take us on a sensory expedition through his world of handcrafted kayak building and the cross-cultural kinship his craft facilitates.

The event is invite only, but we’ve reserved a handful of spots for our digital community! Join the waitlist, and we’ll let you know if a spot becomes available.
